Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop women’s soccer fell to Longwood at home on Wednesday night at Eagle Field, 5-0.

  • Longwood took an early lead at 1:08 with a goal by Peyton Curney.
  • The Eagles earned corners at 1:54 and 11:18 and registered shots from Kinsie Kulig and Aubrey Earman.
  • Mia Ruffalo made a save at 19:07, but Longwood extended their lead to 2-0 at 19:22 when Meghan Piazza scored with an assist from Coryn Silberstein.
  • The first half saw multiple fouls following the second goal.
  • Monssi Avila-Gutierrez put a shot on goal at 30:10.
  • Longwood created chances with five shots and a corner between 33:41 and 44:32, but the Eagles maintained the score at 2-0, with Ruffalo saving Reese Coggeshall’s late attempt after Zaria Winston had a shot saved at the other end.
  • Trailing 2-0 into the second half, Ruffalo saved shots by Taylor Hoag at 52:15 and Maddy Howells at 64:03, while Avila-Gutierrez’s attempt went wide at 54:54.
