Winthrop women’s soccer will wrap up its 2026 regular season Saturday with a road matchup against High Point, looking to earn its first victory over the Panthers since 2018.
The Eagles (5-10-1, 2-5 Big South) will face High Point (5-8-2, 4-2-1) at 4 p.m. at Vert Stadium in High Point, North Carolina. The Panthers currently sit fifth in the conference standings, while Winthrop is eighth.
High Point holds a 17-6-5 advantage in the all-time series and has won six of the last seven meetings. The teams played to a 1-1 draw in last season’s regular-season finale, with Monssi Avila-Gutierrez scoring Winthrop’s goal.
The Eagles’ last victory over the Panthers came Oct. 13, 2018, when Keeley Leising scored an overtime penalty-kick goal in Rock Hill.
Winthrop enters Saturday’s contest following a 2-1 loss at UNC Asheville on Wednesday. Avila-Gutierrez scored on a penalty kick for the Eagles, recording her team-leading sixth goal of the season. Freshman Lila Bowers led Winthrop with four shots, including three on goal, while goalkeeper Mia Ruffalo made two saves.
Avila-Gutierrez will look to finish the season strong as Winthrop closes out its schedule. Saturday’s match will be available on ESPN+.
