YORK, SC — York School District One has announced the appointment of Dean Adone as the district’s new Coordinator of School Safety, a move that signals a continued commitment to robust security measures for students and staff.

Adone joins the district with a resume boasting over 25 years of distinguished leadership in law enforcement. Most recently, he served as the Chief of Police for Roxbury Township, New Jersey, from 2021 to 2024. During his tenure, Adone was responsible for the safety of more than 25,000 residents and oversaw security for seven public schools, making his transition to district administration a natural progression.

A Career Built on Protection

District officials highlighted Adone’s specific expertise in modern school safety protocols as a key factor in his selection. His background includes extensive hands-on experience with:

  • Emergency Operations Planning: Developing comprehensive strategies for crisis response.

  • Threat Assessment & Drills: Coordinating proactive measures to identify risks before they escalate.

  • SRO Oversight: Managing School Resource Officers to ensure positive and safe interactions within schools.

  • Security Technology: Implementing and auditing physical security systems.

Superintendent Dr. Heath Branham expressed confidence in Adone’s ability to integrate seamlessly into the district’s culture while elevating its safety standards.

“Dean Adone brings exactly the kind of proven, steady leadership we value in York School District One,” Dr. Branham stated. “His extensive experience, collaborative approach, and deep understanding of school safety systems will help ensure that our students, staff, and families continue to feel secure and supported. We are thrilled to welcome him to our team.”

A Proactive Approach to Education

The district views this appointment as a critical step in its ongoing mission to create a learning environment where every student feels “seen, heard, and able to belong.” By bringing in a veteran law enforcement leader to manage safety audits and collaborate with local emergency agencies, York School District One aims to maintain a secure atmosphere that allows educators to focus on teaching and students to focus on learning.

Adone’s role is effective immediately as he begins reviewing the district’s current safety infrastructure and operations.
