After Work, Rock Hill Lottery Player Collects a $500,000 Payday

A Rock Hill lottery player bought a ticket when he got off work and got paid $500,000.

“It was unbelievable,” he told South Carolina Education Lottery officials.

He says the new Triple Red 777 scratch-off caught his eye at the Scotts Food Store on Heckle Blvd. in Rock Hill. He took a chance on the $10 ticket and beat the more than 1 in a million odds to take home the game’s first top prize win.

The Lottery caught up with the winner, who was back at work after cashing in the half-a-million-dollar winning ticket. “Maybe I’ll believe it when it hits my bank account,” he said.

Until then, the winner, who does not wish to be identified, isn’t making any plans for his payday.

The odds of winning $500,000 in the Triple Red 777 game are 1 in 1,272,000. Four more top prizes remain in the game.

Scotts Food Store Heckle in Rock Hill received a commission of $5,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
