Tega Cay will host a week of Halloween events from Oct. 26 through Nov. 1, including a pumpkin carving contest, a historical ghost tour and a trunk-or-treat for children, according to the city.
Pumpkin Palooza, now in its third year, invites individuals, families, clubs, church groups and organizations to carve a jack-o’-lantern for a chance to win prizes and a trophy, the city said. Entries must be dropped off by 5 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, at the city sign by Memorial Gardens. The pumpkins will be lit by string lights each evening from Oct. 27 through Halloween night and judged in three categories: Most Creative, Most Complicated and Best Traditional. Registration is required and closes Oct. 25, with drop-off instructions emailed to participants.
On Oct. 30 from 7 to 9:30 p.m., the city will hold Ghosts of the Revolution, a free, ticketless walking tour featuring ghost stories and interactive theater set in 1776. The event is tied to the nation’s 250th anniversary and lets visitors arrive anytime during the window to meet costumed actors portraying soldiers, patriots and other figures from the Revolutionary era, the city said. The event is financed in part with state funds from the SC American Revolution Sestercentennial Commission, known as SC250, though the city said the content does not necessarily reflect SC250’s views.
On Halloween night, Oct. 31, from 4 to 6 p.m., the city will host Boos and Ghouls, a trunk-or-treat event at the Glennon Center Parking Lot. The event will include music from a DJ and a costume contest for all ages, in addition to trick-or-treating, according to the city. Organizers are seeking sponsors and tailgaters to participate, and businesses or individuals interested in registering can do so through the city’s website. Questions can be directed to Caroline Hasty.
