South Carolina state leaders officially declared October as South Carolina Manufacturing Month on Friday during the launch of the new “More To Be Made” campaign at Mercedes-Benz Vans Charleston. The statewide initiative aims to promote high-tech manufacturing careers as the state continues to expand its industrial sector.
According to data released alongside the proclamation, South Carolina’s manufacturing sector generates nearly $300 billion in annual economic impact and supports over 30% of the state’s workforce.
The proclamation emphasizes the critical role of advanced manufacturing in driving the state’s economic development, particularly across key industries such as automotive, aerospace, and advanced materials.
Throughout October, Manufacturing Month will feature efforts from local businesses, workforce development organizations, and communities to showcase career opportunities and celebrate products made in the Palmetto State.
