More than $1.1 million in federal and state grants will be distributed to organizations and agencies serving crime victims in York County as part of more than $29 million in statewide funding.
The South Carolina Public Safety Coordinating Council approved the grants, with projects scheduled to begin Oct. 1, 2026. The funding is administered through the Department of Crime Victim Assistance Grants in the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.
Six York County organizations and agencies are receiving a combined $1,122,908 through several grant programs.
The Children’s Attention Home will receive $251,202 through Victims of Crime Act and State Victim Assistance Program grants to support services for victims.
The City of Rock Hill Police Department will receive $34,971 through the Violence Against Women Act program.
Rock Hill-based Safe Passage is receiving $721,833 through VOCA to provide shelter and supportive services for domestic violence victims, child advocacy services and assistance for victims of sexual assault.
The 16th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office will receive $78,106 through VOCA, while the York County Sheriff’s Office will receive $36,796 through the Supplemental Allocation for Victims Services program.
Statewide, approximately 78% of the funding comes from federal grants, with the remainder provided through state funds. The grants support nonprofit organizations, law enforcement agencies, solicitor’s offices and state agencies assisting victims of violent crime.
