The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM on Wednesday September 9, 2026 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy. York, SC. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 PM at Philadelphia United Methodist Church Cemetery, 2260 Chester Hwy. York, South Carolina, 29745.
Charlie was born on May, 9, 1936, in Gastonia, NC to the late Charles Michaels, Sr. and Sally Davis Michaels. He was the widower of Mickie Kimbrell Michaels.
He is survived by his daughters; Barbara M. Moses, Cindy Redmond (Mike), his grandchildren; Chris Michaels, Candace Blackwood Mergenthaler, Elizabeth Moss, Miranda Michaels, Katie Blackwood and Zach Moses along with his great grandchildren; Cameron Michaels, Asher Michaels, JJ Mergenthaler, Aurora Sneed, Garrett Quinn, James and John Rose, Mason Shultz, Ryan Shultz, Rae Lynn Moss, Leland Moss, Lacey Wilburn and Troy Blackwood. He is also survived by his siblings; Geraldine Lewis and Harold Michaels (Ann).
In addition to his parents and wife Charlie was preceded in death by his sons, Terry “Toolman” Michaels, and Billy Michaels, and his granddaughter Carrie Quinn. And also, by his siblings Grace Hullett, Alford Michaels, Leonard Michaels, Roger Michaels, Ardie Clack, Patty Smith, and James Michaels.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Charlie’s name to Clover First Freewill Baptists Youth Group, 307 Valley Ave., clover, SC 29710
