The Fort Mill School Board opened its September 1 meeting with a slate of recognitions, honoring staff members marking 25 and 30 years of service, Fort Mill High School athletic director Dwayne Hartsoe on his selection to the South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame, the Fort Mill High School athletic program for winning the Carlisle Cup, and the school’s 2026 Class 5A boys and girls track state champions.
Chief financial officer Leanne Lordo told the board the district closed the first month of the new fiscal year on July 31 with $11,374,364 in revenue against $22,212,182 in expenditures, drawing $10,837,818 from fund balance. Impact fee collections have reached $85,656,428 to date, with an additional $7,525,357 in interest earned, and the district has submitted $92.6 million in claims to York County covering Flint Hill Elementary and Flint Hill Middle. August collections of $917,172 ran ahead of the 2025 calendar year monthly average of $848,076. A $24.125 million installment purchase revenue bond refunding was set for September 2.
The board also approved a slate of new Advanced Placement, honors, college preparatory and locally approved courses presented by Dr. Gales Scroggs, heard a report from the South Carolina School Boards Association School Law Conference, and received Superintendent Grey Young’s update on enrollment, attendance and the district calendar. Annual training for PTO, PTA and booster club officers is scheduled for September 30.
