Carolina Classical Academy (CCA) was notified today that former Acting Headmaster Jennifer Mognett was arrested on August 18, 2026, by the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office following charges of felony embezzlement and felony exploitation of an elder during this individual’s time of employment at Carolina Classical Academy.
As the Board(CCA) was conducting its monthly financial reviews in June 2026, an unauthorized charge on the employee’s credit card was discovered. Upon discovering the unauthorized activity, Carolina Classical Academy immediately reported the matter to law enforcement and has cooperated fully throughout the investigation. We extend our sincere gratitude to the Rock Hill Police Department and the Huntersville Police Department for their thorough and professional assistance.
Following this incident, the school conducted a comprehensive review of its administrative processes and enhanced its internal financial controls to further safeguard school assets. The Board of Directors also hired new leadership and is confident in their capabilities to lead Carolina Classical Academy into a new chapter of excellence.
The Board of Directors takes its fiduciary responsibility to Carolina Classical Academy, its students, and the taxpayers of the State of South Carolina with the utmost seriousness. We remain committed to total transparency, integrity, and the vigilant oversight of our school’s operations.
Because this involves an active law enforcement matter, Carolina Classical Academy will defer all further questions regarding the charges to the investigating agencies.
