Three seats on the York School District One Board of Trustees are on the November ballot, and one week before filing closes, the only candidates who have filed are the three trustees who already hold them.
David McSwain has filed for Seat 2, Betty F. Johnson for Seat 4 and Beth Ramsey Faulkner for the at large seat. No challenger had filed for any of the three as of Tuesday morning.
Filing opened at noon Monday, Aug. 3, and closes at noon Monday, Aug. 17, at the York County Voter Registration and Elections office. Anyone who wants on the ballot has until then. If no one else files, all three trustees return without a contested race.
How the seats work
Seats 2 and 4 cover the downtown area and the northern part of the city of York. The at large seat is voted on by the entire district.
The races are nonpartisan. No party label appears next to a candidate’s name and there is no primary, so every candidate who qualifies goes straight to the Nov. 3 general election. Trustees serve four year terms, staggered so only part of the board turns over in any one cycle.
Filing closes at noon Monday, Aug. 17. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
