The city says regional drought conditions have not improved enough to lift water conservation rules, even after recent rainfall.
Stage 2 drought restrictions remain in effect in the City of Tega Cay despite recent rainfall in the area, according to the city.
The city said the rain has helped but regional drought conditions have not improved enough to lift the current restrictions. Because Tega Cay buys its water from the Town of Fort Mill, it continues to follow the regional drought response, according to the city.
The city asked residents and businesses to keep practicing water conservation, including limiting outdoor irrigation in line with the Stage 2 rules, avoiding unnecessary vehicle washing, postponing power washing of buildings, driveways, sidewalks and patios unless necessary, and eliminating other non-essential water use whenever possible.
The city said these measures help protect the regional water supply while drought conditions persist. Officials said they will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as they become available.
