John H. McRedmond III, 78, Indian Land, SC

INDIAN LAND, SC – John H. McRedmond III “Papa Johnny”, passed away on Saturday, June 27 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, cherished memories, and a legacy of love.

John was a man who truly enjoyed life. He loved spending time on the golf course. His playlist was never complete without the music of the The Beatles, whose songs were the soundtrack to so many moments in his life, and if there was a New York Yankees game on, you knew exactly where to find him. Through every season, he remained a loyal New York Jets fan—a level of optimism and perseverance that deserves recognition all by itself. More than anything, John loved making people laugh. His quick wit, playful humor, and ability to brighten any room were gifts that everyone who knew him will remember.

Above all, John was a devoted family man. He shared a loving life with his wife, Pam, and was a proud father to his daughter, Colleen. His greatest joy came from being Papa Johnny to his two grandsons, Aidan and Luke, whom he adored beyond measure. Whether he was cheering them on, telling stories, or simply spending time together, his love for them was evident in everything he did.

John will be remembered for his warm heart, infectious smile, love of golf and the New York Yankees, as well as his unwavering devotion to his family. His laughter will be missed, but the joy he brought to others and the love he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Pamela Smeltzer McRedmond; his daughter, Colleen Kennedy (Scott) his two beloved grandsons, Aidan and Luke Kennedy, who proudly called him Papa Johnny; his three siblings, Thomas McRedmond (Georgiann), Dr. Kevin McRedmond (Barbara), and Kathleen Fisher (Howard); numerous nieces and nephews; and many family members and friends who will forever treasure the memories they shared with him.

John is preceded in death by his parents, John Henry McRedmond Jr. and Susanna Marie deSeve McRedmond; and two siblings, James McRedmond, and Elizabeth Krempasky.
