Leading with Heart: Dr. Jason Ramey Earns State’s Top Counseling Administrator Award

Dr. Jason Ramey, Principal of Van Wyck Elementary School named Administrator of the Year by the South Carolina Counseling Association at the annual conference today.   Dr. Ramey has been in education since 2000 and in our district since 2019.  He has served as principal of Van Wyck Elementary since 2021.  The Lancaster County School District is grateful for Dr. Ramey’s daily leadership in his building and amongst his colleagues.

The award recognizes an administrator who impacts the counseling and helping profession.  Dr. Ramey exhibits servant leadership collaborating with colleagues in his building.  The counseling conference focus is “Rooted in Reflection” which is exhibited in his reflective practice in utilizing data to drive instruction.

Thomas Hyslip

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
