LANCASTER, S.C. — A tragic two-vehicle collision in northern Lancaster County resulted in a fatality on Sunday afternoon, according to authorities.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred at approximately 2:36 p.m. on S.C. Highway 200 near Capricorn Road, roughly 1.2 miles from the North Carolina state line.
Details of the Incident
Investigators state that a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling east on Highway 200 when it collided with a 2012 Honda Accord sedan traveling west.
The driver of the Honda Accord sustained fatal injuries during the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The condition of the driver of the Chevrolet Silverado was not immediately released in the initial reports.
Investigation Ongoing
The circumstances leading up to the collision remain unclear. The South Carolina Highway Patrol has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the crash.
Authorities have not yet released the identity of the victim pending notification of next of kin.
