LEGO® Bricks Take Root at Magnolia Plantation with “Nature POP!®” Exhibit

Get ready for a vibrant explosion of color and nature as Magnolia Plantation & Gardens announces the arrival of “Sean Kenney’s Nature POP!®,” an awe-inspiring exhibition constructed from over 800,000 LEGO® bricks. Opening Memorial Day weekend, on May 23, 2025, this unique display will transform the historic gardens into a playground of art and innovation.

From May 23 to August 15, 2025, visitors to the iconic Charleston landmark will be greeted by more than 40 larger-than-life sculptures, each meticulously crafted from LEGO® bricks. These gravity-defying creations, designed by acclaimed artist Sean Kenney, offer a playful and modern twist on traditional nature-inspired art.

“We are thrilled to bring artist Sean Kenney’s Nature POP!®: Made with LEGO® bricks to Magnolia,” said Susan Shallo, CEO of Magnolia Plantation & Gardens. “Just as our historic gardens offer something for everyone, this exhibition merges art, innovation, and nature to create a truly dynamic and immersive experience.”

The exhibition, produced by Imagine, promises to blend art, science, and innovation, creating a thought-provoking and visually stunning experience. Guests can expect to see everything from a majestic fox rendered in bright hues to vibrant birds seemingly frozen in mid-flight, all constructed from the iconic plastic bricks.

“I’m super excited to bring Nature POP! to Magnolia Plantations & Garden,” said artist Sean Kenney. “Magnolia’s beautiful landscapes are the perfect backdrop for my sculptures, which use the bold color of LEGO® bricks to show the amazing world of nature. Together, they will let you experience the outdoors in a fun and new way!”

The sculptures will be strategically placed throughout the gardens, creating a striking contrast between the colorful LEGO® creations and the natural beauty of Magnolia Plantation. Each display aims to highlight the interconnectedness of nature, exploring themes such as predator-prey relationships and the delicate balance of ecosystems. Interactive elements will also be incorporated to educate visitors on the scientific aspects of the natural world.

The exhibit will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with access included in the general garden admission. Ticket prices are:

  • Adults: $35
  • Seniors (62+), Military, and Teachers (with ID): $32
  • Youth (12-17): $21
  • Children (5-11): $17
  • Ages 4 and under: Free (ticket required)
