Sauer Brands, Parent Company of Duke’s Mayonnaise, Acquired by Private Equity Firm

Sauer Brands Inc., the parent company of the iconic Duke’s Mayonnaise, is set to be acquired by Boston-based private equity firm Advent International. The transaction, announced in January 2025, will see Charlotte’s Falfurrias Capital Partners divest its ownership of Sauer Brands.

Duke’s Mayonnaise, founded in Greenville, South Carolina, in 1917, has long been celebrated for its unique, tangy flavor, making it a staple in Southern kitchens.

Under Falfurrias Capital Partners’ ownership, Sauer Brands expanded its product line and market presence, further solidifying Duke’s position in the condiment industry.

The acquisition by Advent International is anticipated to provide Sauer Brands with additional resources to continue its growth trajectory, though specific terms of the deal have not been publicly disclosed.

This move reflects a broader trend in the food industry, where consumers are increasingly gravitating toward smaller, independent brands like Duke’s, which offer distinctive flavors and artisanal qualities.

As the transition unfolds, fans of Duke’s Mayonnaise can expect the brand to maintain its commitment to quality and tradition, while potentially exploring new markets and product innovations under Advent International’s stewardship.
