Three Clover School District teachers were recognized for their creative and impactful classroom projects at the recent School Board meeting, thanks to the generosity of Dr. Ashley Scott and Dr. Bertrina Scott of Project CLEER.
Dr. Bertrina Scott surprised the educators by presenting them with grant checks to support their initiatives, which aim to enhance student learning through hands-on experiences. The award recipients are:
- Rosa Ford, Academies of Clover “Sea Turtle ER”
- Sam Harper, Bethany Elementary “Iron Sharpens Iron”
- Rhonda Huddleston-Broom and Dr. Angela Leissa, Oakridge Elementary “Bright Lights, Big Talent”
These grants will help bring innovative ideas to life in the classroom, enriching students educational experiences. The Clover School District expressed gratitude to Project CLEER for its continued support of local educators and students.

Thomas Hyslip lives in Tega Cay with his wife and daughter. After 27 years in the U.S. Army and Federal Law Enforcement, he retired to pursue his passion for teaching. Tom is now an Assistant Professor of Instruction at the University of South Florida. In 2 short years he has won 10 awards from the South Carolina Press Association, including first place in column writing, education beat reporting and best podcast.
