Governor to Host 59th Annual Carolighting at Statehouse Sunday

Governor Henry McMaster and First Lady Peggy McMaster will officially usher in the holiday season on Sunday with the 59th annual Governor’s Carolighting at the Statehouse. The event is a tradition that brings South Carolinians together to celebrate the start of the Christmas season.

Those unable to attend in person can view the event on television or online via SCETV.

The program will take place on the north steps of the Statehouse, featuring a mix of traditional carols, performances by local artists, and the lighting of South Carolina’s official Christmas tree.

This year’s tree is a 35-foot-tall Norway Spruce sourced from Henderson Tree Farms in Morganton, North Carolina. The tree was purchased by the Columbia Garden Club with financial support from the Garden Club of South Carolina.

The holiday event will be emceed by Miss South Carolina 2025, Sarah Kay Wrenn. The celebration is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 23.
