In what is shaping up to be a critical Region 3-5A matchup with post season implications, the Nation Ford Falcons (4-3) will host the Catawba Ridge Copperheads (4-3) tonight at 7:30 p.m.
Both teams enter the contest looking to improve their region standings after recent setbacks. Nation Ford is coming off a 30-14 loss to Rock Hill last week, while Catawba Ridge fell to Indian Land 34-7. The Copperheads hold bragging rights from a 13-10 victory over Fort Mill earlier this season, but a win over their Fort Mill rivals, the Falcons, would be vital for their playoff positioning.
The Falcons will rely on quarterback Kason Canupp, who put up a strong performance despite last week’s loss, while the Copperheads will look to their defense, anchored by Nolan Jones and Tyler Robinson, to stifle the Nation Ford offense.
Northwestern Heads to Rock Hill for City Rivalry Showdown
The Northwestern Trojans (7-1) will travel across town to face the Rock Hill Bearcats (4-3) in a storied city rivalry game at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
Northwestern, ranked 4th in South Carolina, is coming off a high-scoring 56-40 win against Fort Mill last week and remains undefeated in region play. The Trojans’ high-powered offense is averaging 38 points per game this season.
The Bearcats, meanwhile, secured a key 30-14 victory over Nation Ford last week and will look to continue that momentum by pulling off a major upset against their highly-ranked rivals. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
South Pointe Takes Road Trip to Battle Lancaster in Region 4-4A
The South Pointe Stallions (4-3) will look to build on a dominant performance last week as they travel to Lancaster High School for a 7:30 p.m. region contest.
South Pointe, ranked No. 3 in South Carolina AAAA, defeated York 41-0 last week in a defensive shutout. The Stallions are heavily favored against the Lancaster Red Devils, who recently suffered a loss to Fort Mill. South Pointe aims to maintain its top position in the region standings as the playoffs approach.
Fort Mill Prepares for Open Week After Loss to Trojans
The Fort Mill Yellow Jackets have a bye week following a tough 56-40 loss to Northwestern last week.
The Yellow Jackets (4-4) had a strong offensive showing against the Trojans, but the defense struggled to contain the opposition. Fort Mill will use the open week to prepare for their next contest against Indian Land.
Clover On The Road Against Indian Land Warriors
The Clover Blue Eagles (4-3, 1-2) head south to face the undefeated Indian Land Warriors tonight at 7:30 p.m. in a non-region matchup.
Clover is looking to snap a two-game skid, having lost tough contests against Northwestern (52-24) and Rock Hill (35-34) in recent weeks. A win on the road would be critical for the Blue Eagles to regain momentum before their next region game.
York Cougars Host Camden Bulldogs at Home
The York Comprehensive Cougars will host the Camden Bulldogs tonight at 7:30 p.m.
The Cougars (2-6) are looking to bounce back after a 41-0 defeat to South Pointe last week. York will face a formidable test in Camden in a critical home game as they work to find a win and improve their season record.
