York High Cougar Band crowned Eagle Classic Grand Champion

CHESNEE, S.C. — Coming off fall intersession break, the York High School Cougar Band delivered its strongest show of the season at the Chesnee Eagle Classic, sweeping top honors and earning the event’s highest title: Overall Grand Champion.

Judges praised the ensemble’s precision, musicality, and effect across the board. The Cougar Band collected a haul of trophies, including:

  • Best Music in Class

  • Best Soloist of the Day

  • 1st Place in Class

  • Gold Division High Music

  • Gold Division High Music Effect

  • Gold Division Champion

  • Overall Eagle Classic GRAND CHAMPION

The performance capped a statement weekend for York, showcasing crisp drill, confident brass and woodwind lines, and a front ensemble that anchored the production with clarity and drive. The “Best Soloist of the Day” nod highlighted individual excellence within a tightly unified ensemble.
