Driver Dies in Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash in York County

CLOVER, S.C. – A devastating single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning claimed the life of one person on Lincoln Road near Clover. The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) confirmed the fatal incident, which occurred just after 1:00 a.m.

According to preliminary reports from the SCHP, a Ford F-150 pickup truck was traveling southbound on Lincoln Road near the intersection of Woodstream Road. For reasons still under investigation, the truck veered off the right side of the road. It then swerved sharply back across the roadway, leaving the pavement a second time before colliding head-on with a tree.

The impact caused the truck to immediately erupt in flames, entrapping the driver. Emergency crews from local fire and rescue services responded to the scene, but the individual, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin by the York County Coroner’s Office.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol’s Multi-Disciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is currently conducting a thorough investigation to determine the contributing factors to the crash, including speed, road conditions, or other potential causes. Further information will be released as the investigation progresses.
