FORT MILL, S.C. — The Humane Society of York County (HSYC) is marking “Christmas in July” this week, and alongside the festivities, the organization is spotlighting two adoptable animals and emphasizing community support opportunities during the busy summer season.
Cat of the Week: Kylie Jenner
Kylie Jenner, a six-month-old feline recently surrendered due to family allergies, is adjusting to her new environment at HSYC’s Big Cat Room. Staff describe her as sweet, shy, and stunning in appearance. Though reserved initially, Kylie has shown signs of affection and is expected to become a loyal companion with time and care.
She has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested, and is now ready to meet potential adopters. Those interested in Kylie can call the shelter at 803-802-0902 or learn more about adoption procedures on the HSYC website: humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org.
Dog of the Week: Kaylor
Kaylor, a two-year-old mixed breed dog weighing approximately 60–65 pounds, was found as a stray. Shelter staff believe she previously lived with other dogs, as she has shown a friendly temperament toward canine companions. Kaylor enjoys walking and outdoor activities and is currently enrolled in training.
Like Kylie, Kaylor is fully vaccinated, spayed, microchipped, and tested. She is seeking a permanent home where she can continue her journey toward stability and companionship.
Fostering and Community Support Needed
With the school year approaching, HSYC is encouraging families to consider fostering—especially kittens, which are abundant this time of year. The organization reports that a typical foster duration is about two weeks, giving animals time for vaccinations and offering families a chance to experience the responsibilities of pet ownership.
Foster sign-up information is available at https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/how-to-help-hsyc/foster.
HSYC is also actively searching for land—ideally 5 to 10 acres—to support shelter expansion. Community members with leads are encouraged to reach out to the organization.
In addition, the Humane Society continues to seek financial support, donations of supplies (such as litter, detergent, and pet treats), and contributions to its thrift store. So far in 2025, the organization has successfully placed 94 dogs and 318 cats in permanent homes.
