SLED CHARGES 17-YEAR-OLD WITH MURDER AFTER FATAL SHOOTING AT WATERMELON FESTIVAL

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) charged Jayden Jeremiah Jefferies, 17, with Murder, Possession of a Weapon During a Deadly Crime, and Additional Penalty for a Concealable Weapon, as he was not eligible at 17 for a Concealed Weapons Permit (CWP), on
Saturday, July 19, 2025. The SLED investigation was requested by the Pageland Police Department and the Chesterfield County Coroner’s Office.
Details can be found in the attached warrants.

Jefferies was booked into the Chesterfield County Detention Center.

The case will be prosecuted by the 4th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
