Seneca, S.C. (March 10, 2025) – Lake Wylie angler Britt Myers Jr. delivered a strong performance at the Major League Fishing (MLF) Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) tournament on Lake Keowee, securing a sixth-place finish. Myers Jr. weighed in a five-bass limit totaling 15 pounds, 8 ounces, earning a prize of $643 in the highly competitive event.
The tournament, held on March 8 as part of the BFL Savannah River Division, featured skilled anglers battling for top honors. Kerry Partain of Elberton, Georgia, claimed first place with a total weight of 17 pounds, earning $3,505. Myers Jr. was only a few ounces behind the top finishers, demonstrating his consistency and ability to find quality fish on a challenging fishery.
The conditions at Lake Keowee saw the early stages of the bass spawn influencing anglers’ strategies. Many competitors, including tournament winner Partain, utilized a combination of sonar technology and sight fishing to target bass moving into shallow water. Partain relied on Lowrance ActiveTarget sonar to locate fish before switching to a Zoom Fluke Stick wacky rigged to land a 6-pound, 2-ounce bass, which helped secure his victory.
For Myers Jr., his sixth-place finish adds another solid result to his competitive fishing record, reinforcing his status as a strong contender in the Savannah River Division. With multiple events still ahead in the season, he remains in position to qualify for the BFL Regional tournament on Lake Murray in October.
The next event in the BFL Savannah River Division is set for April 12 at Lake Hartwell in Anderson, S.C. Anglers will continue competing for valuable points in the Fishing Clash Angler of the Year standings and a chance to advance to higher-level competitions.
