Antonia “Toni” Skidmore, 76, Fort Mill, SC

Pauline Antonia “Toni” Skidmore (Fusarini), age 76, of Fort Mill and formerly of Summerville, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at her home.

The family is hosting a celebration of life on January 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Bethany United Methodist Church, 118 W. 3rd S Street, Summerville. The family will receive friends for visitation prior to the service, starting at 10 a.m. The family is requesting that anyone who can, please wear pink to the services, as it was Toni’s favorite color.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Toni was the daughter of the late Lawrence Duke and Pauline Heilig Duke. She received her bachelor’s degree from Adelphi University in Long Island, New York. Later in life, she decided to follow her true calling of becoming an Educator and went back to school, achieving her master’s degree from the College of Charleston. Her dedication to serving those around her, and her commitment to her community, were evidenced by her teaching of special needs children at multiple public schools around the Charleston area. Along with her husband, Bob, they also took an active role as members of Bethany United Methodist Church in helping with their Friendship Sunday School Class.

Upon her retirement from teaching, she and Bob loved traveling the world, taking cruises and marveling at all the sights they could take in together. Most importantly, being Nana to her grandson, Mom to her daughters and a devoted wife, really meant the whole world to her. Through all of her adversity, she continued to serve and love those around her.
Surviving are her husband, Robert Fusarini; two daughters, Molly Planas (Gabriel) of Fort Mill and Megan Skidmore of Columbia; her brother, John Duke (Janet) of Goodyear, Arizona; her grandson, Miguel Planas; niece, Emily Stanford (Ed); and nephew, Michael Duke (Tara); and her loving cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Protection & Advocacy for People with Disabilities Inc., 3710 Landmark Drive, Suite 208, Columbia, SC 29204.
