Rock Hill City Council to Meet Tonight

The Rock Hill City Council will hold its regular meeting tonight, Monday, January 13, 2025. The meeting will begin at 5:00 PM with an Infrastructure Committee meeting, followed by a Citizens Hearing at 5:30 PM. The regular session will begin at 6:00 PM.    

The Council will recognize several individuals and groups during the meeting, including:

Leslie Ballard, recipient of the 2024 South Carolina Recreation & Park Association’s (SCRPA) State Merit Award    

  • The Rock Hill Parks, Recreation & Tourism’s 8U and 10U All-Star Flag Football Teams, State Champions in their divisions    
  • The Northwestern Football Team, winner of the South Carolina 5A Division II State Championship    

Public Hearing

A public hearing will be held on the creation of the Herald Municipal Improvement District.   

The Council will consider several ordinances, including:

  • An ordinance for the disposition of property located along Lige Street to York County.   
  • An ordinance for partial abandonment of utility rights of way and easements on Mauldin Drive.
  • An ordinance to amend the Zoning Ordinance affecting property on Dave Lyle Boulevard.    
  • An ordinance for the termination, abandonment, cancellation and release of a development agreement for property located on Heckle Boulevard, Saluda Street and Albright Road.  
  • An ordinance to amend the Zoning Ordinance affecting property on Old York Road.   
  • An ordinance authorizing the creation of the Herald Municipal Improvement District.   

Planning Commission Recommendations

The Council will consider recommendations from the Planning Commission on several petitions, including:

  • A petition to rezone property at 809, 828, and 831 Cedar Street, & 838 Crest Street.    
  • A petition to rezone property at 809 Taylor Street, 309 & 310 Tim Street, 213 Carroll Street, and 736, 804, 835 (portion), 839, & 843 Crawford Road.   

Other Items

The Council will also consider approval of the Rock Hill Economic Development Corporation goals for FY2025/FY2026 and announce SmartSwitch and CustomerConnect winners.

The Council may hold an executive session to discuss appointments to Boards and Commissions and for discussions covered by attorney/client privilege.
