Ms. Catherine O’ Barr Dover, “Cathy”, age 77 of York, SC passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2025.
The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Thursday, January 9th, 2025 at Bratton Funeral Home, 1455 Filbert Hwy York, SC. The memorial service, celebrating Cathy’s life, will begin at 3 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Will Cofield officiating.
Cathy was born on February 21, 1947 in Rock Hill, SC. She was the daughter of the late Hoyt O’Barr and Minnie Harper O’Barr, “Boots”. She was grateful to God for always providing what she needed to raise her two sons. She also had a significant impact in the lives of her two oldest nephews Tim and Kevin O’Barr. She was no stranger to sacrifice and was a very caring person who provided home care services and assisted numerous elderly individuals in their later years. She was known to have many talents from sewing, crocheting, and cutting hair to building sun porches. She was cited as being prompt, dependable, and capable doing all work in expert manor in letters of recommendation. She was always willing to put those she loved before herself. These are the traits that describe Cathy at her core, the traits that those closest to her will remember her by. The traits that contributed to her granddaughters calling her their Cool Grandma.
Cathy is survived by her sons, Tony Dover (Analiza Whitney) and Jerry Dover (Lisa); her grandchildren: Derrick, Andrew, Susan and Amanda; her great grandchildren: Elijah, Ethan, Ariel, Julian, Lilia, Merida, Presley, Kade, Ollie, Mary, and Raya; and her brother, Steve O’Barr (Sylvia).
In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her brother, Rudolph O’Barr.
