York County Issues Boil Water Advisory for Four Neighborhoods

York County Utilities ordered the advisory after state regulators found elevated E.coli and total coliform levels in the water supply.

Based on a release from York County.

York County Utilities has issued a boil water advisory for customers in the Hawks Creek, Stockbridge Drive, Coralstone Drive and Waterstone neighborhoods after the South Carolina Department of Environmental Services found elevated levels of E.coli and total coliform in the water supply, according to York County.

Affected customers should vigorously boil their water for at least one full minute before drinking or cooking, the county said. Residents are advised to use bottled water or boiled, cooled water for drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing food and baby formula, making ice, and giving water to pets.

The advisory will remain in effect until the state Department of Environmental Services confirms there is no longer a public health concern, according to the county. York County said it has prioritized retesting the water supply and expects an update from the state within 48 hours.

Once testing confirms the water is safe to consume, York County said it will send an additional alert notifying residents immediately.
