Mendonca Leads Winthrop Women’s Golf to Fourth-Place Finish at UNCG Collegiate

Constanca Mendonca finished tied for third individually to lead the Winthrop women’s golf team to a fourth-place finish Tuesday at the UNCG Collegiate at Forest Oaks Country Club.

The Eagles finished with a three-round total of 900, 36-over par, among eight competing teams. UNC Greensboro won the tournament at 2-over par, followed by Augusta (+9) and Campbell (+24).

Mendonca, a senior, carded a final-round 74 to finish at 1-under-par 215. The performance marked her second top-10 finish this season, the 10th of her collegiate career and her fourth top-five finish. Her 54-hole total tied her collegiate best, previously achieved at the 2023 Terrier Intercollegiate and the 2025 Golfweek Fall Challenge.

Mendonca led the tournament field in par-3 scoring at 4-under and paced the Eagles in par-4 scoring at 1-over.

Freshman Avery Suter also posted a final-round 74, finishing tied for 20th at 11-over par 227. Caroline Childers joined Suter in a tie for 20th with the same overall score.

Junior Emily Young carded a final-round 76 to finish 37th at 18-over par 234, while Eileen Zeoli placed 44th at 29-over par 245.

Young led Winthrop in par-5 scoring at 1-under, with Suter finishing even par in those holes. The Eagles ranked third among the teams in par-5 scoring and fourth in par-3 scoring.

The tournament concluded Winthrop’s fall portion of the 2026-27 season. The Eagles return to competition Feb. 8-9 at The Oyster Shuck Match Play in Charleston.
