York County voters can begin casting ballots in the Nov. 3 general election on Monday, Oct. 19, when six early voting centers open across the county.
Early voting runs Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Saturday, Oct. 31. The centers are closed Sundays, legal holidays and the Monday before Election Day. Any registered York County voter may use any of the six centers, regardless of where in the county they live.
The county is running twice as many sites as it did for the June primary, when voters had three early voting locations, with the Holiday Inn Rock Hill at the Galleria Mall serving as the central county site. The general election lineup adds centers in Clover, Fort Mill and a second location in Rock Hill, putting an early voting site closer to more of the county’s fastest growing communities.
Where to vote early
These six centers are the only places open for voting during the early voting period. Regular precinct polling places open only on Election Day.

What to bring
Voters can visit any early voting center during the early voting period, present their photo ID, and vote on the same equipment used at their polling place on Election Day. Voters who lack an acceptable ID can get a free voter registration card with photo from the county voter registration office or the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Early voting centers also serve as drop off points for mailed absentee ballots. Absentee ballots can be returned during the operating hours of an early voting center or to the Board of Voter Registration and Elections Office before 7 p.m. on Election Day. Election Day polling places cannot accept absentee ballots.
State Senate seat also on some ballots
Some York County voters will also see the Senate District 15 special election on their ballots. The state Election Commission lists the early voting locations for that race as the same ones used for the general election, with the special election held Nov. 3.
Before you go
Voters can review a sample ballot through the South Carolina State Election Commission voter portal at https://vrems.scvotes.sc.gov/Voter/Login?PageMode=Sampleballot.
On Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and voters must cast ballots at the polling place assigned to their precinct. Questions can go to the Board of Voter Registration and Elections of York County, 6 S. Congress St., Suite 1201, York, 803.684.1242.
