Planned Parenthood Votes! to Endorse Johnson, Andrews at Columbia Event

Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic will endorse Democratic gubernatorial nominee Dr. Jermaine Johnson and U.S. Senate nominee Dr. Annie Andrews during an election countdown event in Columbia on Thursday, Oct. 8.

The “Pink Out the Ballot Election Countdown” is scheduled for 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 701 Whaley, 701 Whaley St. Johnson will headline the event alongside Andrews, a Charleston pediatrician who is also endorsed by the national Planned Parenthood Action Fund.

The organization will also recognize 67 candidates for the South Carolina House of Representatives during the gathering.

The event is intended to build momentum ahead of Election Day and recruit volunteers for the organization’s get-out-the-vote efforts.

South Carolina’s early in-person voting period is scheduled for Oct. 19-31, with Election Day set for Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Johnson secured the Democratic nomination for governor in the June 9 primary. Andrews is the party’s nominee for the U.S. Senate.

Planned Parenthood Votes! South Atlantic is the independent political and advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood South Atlantic. The organization works in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia through voter education, advocacy, lobbying and elections, focusing on reproductive health care access, including abortion.
