York, SC –The York School District One Board of Trustees has approved an extension of Superintendent Dr. Heath Branham’s contract following a positive evaluation of his leadership and performance. As a result, Branham will receive a 2% salary increase and a one-year contract extension, now set to conclude on June 30, 2029.
The contract extension reflects the Board’s continued confidence in Branham’s leadership and provides stability and continuity as York School District One continues advancing its priorities for students, staff, families and the broader York community.
“The York School District One Board of Trustees deeply appreciates Dr. Branham for the leadership and commitment he has demonstrated in just over a year with our district,” said Scott Childers, Chair of the York School District One Board of Trustees. “From his first days here, he has worked closely with our board and staff, supported our students, and actively engaged with the community as a whole. We value his continued efforts to strengthen our schools, build trust across the district, and move York School District One forward.”
Branham was appointed Superintendent of York School District One in July 2025, leading the district with an emphasis on student achievement, strong school culture, community engagement and ensuring students and employees feel connected and supported. Under his leadership, the district has continued its focus on creating opportunities for every student to be seen, be heard and belong while navigating growth and preparing for the future of York School District One.
The Board conducts regular evaluations of the superintendent as part of its responsibility to provide oversight and ensure continued progress toward the district’s goals and priorities.
