Republican state senators passed a tailored appropriations bill Tuesday aimed at funding core state operations, delivering targeted tax relief to seniors, and allocating millions for infrastructure upgrades.
The legislative measure was drafted following the conclusion of the regular legislative session in May. Under the newly approved budget plan, state agencies will receive funding to maintain essential public services while state leaders address critical regional infrastructure needs.
A central component of the legislation expands South Carolina’s homestead exemption, offering increased property tax relief for senior citizens across the state. Additionally, the funding package directs significant state dollars toward repairing and modernizing local roads and bridges to address growing traffic demands and structural repairs.
With the Senate’s approval, the appropriations bill now moves forward as lawmakers work to finalize state spending plans before the upcoming legislative term.
