A Lancaster man has been charged after a Fourth of July crash in Rock Hill left a moped rider dead.
According to the Rock Hill Police Department, 35-year-old Jeremy Durham was arrested and charged with failure to yield the right of way while turning left and driving under suspension.
The collision occurred at approximately 6:45 p.m. on July 4 along Finley Road near West Main Street. Investigators said Durham was driving a Ford Fusion when he attempted to turn left into a residence and failed to yield to an oncoming moped, resulting in a collision.
The moped rider, identified as 43-year-old Germal Kennedy of Rock Hill, suffered critical injuries in the crash. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the investigation determined that Durham was operating the vehicle while his driver’s license was suspended. He was taken into custody following the crash.
