Congressman Clyburn to Host 34th World Famous Annual Fish Fry in Columbia

Congressman James E. Clyburn (SC-06) will host his 34th World Famous Annual Fish Fry on Friday, May 29, continuing a South Carolina political tradition that spans more than three decades.

Clyburn originally launched the fish fry over 30 years ago as a gesture of gratitude for his campaign workers and volunteers. Since its inception, the gathering has grown into a highly anticipated, free community event celebrated for its fried whiting served on white bread, lively dancing, and strong sense of fellowship.

National political columnists have frequently praised the gathering, with Roger Simon previously describing the event as “one of those all-too-rare, feel-good evenings in politics.”

This year’s event will feature a prominent lineup of guest speakers alongside Congressman Clyburn, including:

  • Governor Andy Beshear of Kentucky

  • Congressman Ro Khanna (CA-17) of California

The fish fry is entirely open to the public, though attendees are encouraged to complete their public registration online in advance here.

  • Date: Friday, May 29

  • Time: 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Gates open at 8:00 PM; the speaking program begins promptly at 8:30 PM)

  • Location: EdVenture Children’s Museum, Bob Cole Plaza, 211 Gervais Street, Columbia, S.C. 29201
