Fort Mill to Honor Fallen Heroes at Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

The Town of Fort Mill invites the community to gather in remembrance on Monday, May 25, 2026, for its annual Memorial Day Ceremony. The event will take place at the historic Unity Cemetery, located at 303 Tom Hall Street, beginning promptly at 10 a.m.

The ceremony is designed to pay tribute to the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the United States. Mayor Guynn Savage will open the proceedings with a welcome and special remarks, followed by a poignant reading of the names of the fallen by members of the Fort Mill Town Council.

The program will feature several community groups and local figures:

  • Special Readings: The newly crowned 2026 South Carolina Strawberry Festival Queens will deliver a guest reading.

  • Military Honors: Scout Troop 219 will perform the posting and retirement of colors, while American Legion Post 43 and its Ladies Auxiliary will conduct the traditional laying of the wreath and a rifle volley.

  • Musical Tributes: The National Anthem and special musical selections will be performed by Anna Davis.

The Town offers a special opportunity for residents to recognize fallen family members or friends. To have a specific service member’s name, rank, and branch of service included in the ceremony, submissions must be emailed to [email protected] no later than May 20, 2026.

Attendance is free, and the Town will provide complimentary lemonade by Anchors Aweigh Lemonade. Due to the ceremony’s location, attendees are asked to park at the Fort Mill Utilities Department at 131 E. Elliott St., situated near the cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, the ceremony will be recorded and shared on the town’s YouTube channel, @fortmilltv, following the event.
