Ten students from York and Lancaster counties are among the nearly 9,500 graduates set to participate in the University of Georgia’s spring Commencement ceremonies May 7 and 8 in Athens.
The Class of 2026 includes 6,537 spring undergraduates, 1,055 expected summer undergraduates, and 1,885 graduate students who have met requirements to walk during the two day celebration.
Local graduates include:
Fort Mill: Allyssa Lewis, Avery Millo, Caleb Sandler, David Mason
Clover: Ashley Atkinson, Charlotte Moore
Lake Wylie: Brooke Higgins
Rock Hill: Christopher Noble Molnar
Indian Land: Megan Johnson
Chester: Jordan Knox
Ceremony Schedule
The graduate ceremonies will take place May 7 in Stegeman Coliseum, with the master’s and specialist ceremony at 10 a.m. and the doctoral ceremony at 2:30 p.m. The undergraduate ceremony is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on May 8 in Sanford Stadium.
Former UGA and Atlanta Falcons quarterback DJ Shockley will deliver the undergraduate address. Meg Amstutz, dean of the Jere W. Morehead Honors College, will speak at the graduate ceremonies.
University President Jere W. Morehead said Commencement is an opportunity to celebrate the accomplishments of graduates and the families who supported them, and that the university looks forward to seeing how the Class of 2026 will represent UGA as alumni.
