Mr. Robert “Bob” Walter Bruce, age 72, of York, South Carolina, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, South Carolina 29229.
Bob was born on January 18, 1954 in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was the son of the late William Clark Bruce and Alberta Irene Snow Bruce. Following high school, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country for six years. He enjoyed trips to the beach and spending time with his best friend and loyal companion, his beloved cocker spaniel, “Oreo.”
Bob is survived by his siblings, Margaret “Peg” Bruce (Karen Hale Bruce), Albert Charles Bruce, William Clark Bruce, Jr. (Pam), and Sandra Addair Miller (John); his cherished companion, “Oreo”; his extended family, Cheryl and Robert Guzman, Bobby, Liam, and Julie Guzman, Trey Hale, Sandy Phillips (Danny), Jay Houston, and Mariah Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews and their children of Ashtabula, Ohio.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Louise Urban; his brother, James Gerome Urban; and his beloved dog, Dexter.
