Morehead State University sophomore Seamus Bogan has been on an absolute tear this spring. Hailing from Clover, South Carolina, the talented golfer was recently named the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Male Golfer of the Week for the week of March 12, 2026.
The honor comes on the heels of a historic, breakout performance where Bogan secured his first collegiate medalist honors in runaway fashion at the Jackrabbit Invitational in Nevada.
A Masterclass at the Jackrabbit Invitational
Competing at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada, Bogan put on a clinic. Navigating the course with incredible precision, he topped a competitive field of 72 collegiate golfers to win the individual title by a commanding six strokes.
Here is a look at his tournament breakdown:
-
Final Score: 204 (-12)
-
Round-by-Round: 66 – 69 – 69
-
Key Stats: Bogan ranked first in the entire field in par-four scoring and second in par-three scoring.
His blistering opening round of 66 set the tone for the event, and his back-to-back 69s in the second and third rounds ensured that no one in the field—including runner-up Ryan Sam of Youngstown State—could close the gap.
Making History for the Eagles
Bogan’s remarkable 12-under-par finish was more than just a personal milestone; it was a landmark moment for the Morehead State men’s golf program.
-
Breaking the Drought: His victory marked the first individual tournament win by a Morehead State golfer since the 2022 OVC Championship.
-
Elite Company: His 54-hole score of 204 stands as the second-best performance by any MSU golfer over the past 15 years.
A Breakout Sophomore Campaign
This recent accolade is just the latest chapter in what has become a phenomenal sophomore season for the Clover native. Bogan has proven to be the undeniable anchor for Head Coach Matthew Martin’s squad.
-
Racking up Honors: This marks Bogan’s second OVC Golfer of the Week award this spring; he previously won the award on February 5th following a stellar final round at the Compadres Collegiate. He was also named the OVC Golfer of the Month for February.
-
Conference Leader: Currently tied for 10th in the OVC with a scoring average of 72.2, Bogan consistently leads the Eagles on the leaderboard.
From Clover to the Collegiate Links
Before making waves in the Ohio Valley Conference, Bogan honed his skills at Gaston Day School. During his prep career, he won the North Carolina Independent State Championship as an individual and helped lead his high school team to back-to-back state titles. With strong athletic roots, his father Jeffrey was a Division I athlete at Northern Illinois, Bogan has seamlessly translated his high school dominance to the collegiate ranks.
With the OVC Championships looming in late April, Seamus Bogan has officially put the rest of the conference on notice. His combination of scoring consistency and tournament-winning upside makes him one of the most exciting young golfers to watch in college golf right now.
