Lancaster County Restaurant Inspections: Four Kitchens Receive ‘B’ Grades in February

LANCASTER, S.C. – State health inspectors conducted 78 inspections of local dining establishments across Lancaster County in February 2026. While the majority of kitchens met safety standards, four establishments received “B” ratings due to violations ranging from temperature control issues to supervision and equipment maintenance.

A “B” grade is typically issued when an establishment scores between 78 and 87 points on a routine inspection or fails to correct priority violations during a follow-up.

Here are the details for the four establishments that received “B” ratings during the February reporting period:

Zaxby’s #46

• Location: 1210 Hwy 9 Byp W, Lancaster

• Score: 81 (B)

• Inspection Date: Feb. 20, 2026

Inspectors cited Zaxby’s for several violations, including a hood system that was not working at the time of inspection, though this was corrected on-site. The report also noted that the hot water at the handwashing sink only reached 63°F, failing to meet the 100°F minimum requirement. Other issues included the grease receptacle lid and dumpster doors being left open, as well as missing hood filters.

Update: Received an A rating on follow-up inspection on February 27, 2026.

Berts Girls LLC

• Location: 111 N Main St, Heath Springs

• Score: 82 (B)

• Inspection Date: Feb. 4, 2026

Berts Girls received a “B” grade during a routine inspection. The report cited Supervision and Employee Health violations, specifically noting that the Person in Charge (PIC) could not demonstrate the required knowledge, as evidenced by the facility having two or more priority violations.

Update: Received an A rating on follow-up inspection on February 19, 2026.

Dixie Food Mart

• Location: 3586 Pageland Hwy, Lancaster

• Score: 78 (B)

• Inspection Date: Feb. 23, 2026

This facility received a “B” rating due to multiple priority violations. Inspectors noted issues with supervision, stating that the Person in Charge was not present or could not demonstrate the necessary food safety knowledge. The low score of 78 indicates several operational violations were observed during the routine inspection.

Update: A follow-up inspection was scheduled to be performed within 10 days.

Taco Bell

• Location: 9915 Charlotte Hwy, Indian Land

• Score: 98 (B)

• Inspection Date: Feb. 20, 2026

Despite receiving a high numerical score of 98, this location was downgraded to a “B” during a follow-up inspection. The report cited a consecutive violation regarding the “Demonstration” of food safety knowledge by the Person in Charge. When priority violations are not corrected during a follow-up, the facility’s grade is affected regardless of the overall score.
