ATLANTA — FEMA announced more than $33 million in funding for eight recovery and mitigation projects to help South Carolina communities recover from Hurricane Helene and other disasters.
This funding is part of more than $348 million that FEMA announced for almost 170 projects nationwide.
FEMA is awarding more than $32 million for six Public Assistance projects to reimburse South Carolina for the costs of emergency protective measures, debris removal and utility repairs. Notable projects include:
- $30.7 million to Greenville Water to repair the North Saluda and Table Rock reservoirs.
- $979,000 to Aiken County for debris removal efforts.
- $215,000 to Aiken Electric Cooperative, Inc. for emergency protective measures.
- $207,000 to Seneca for emergency protective measures.
- $198,000 to Clemson University to repair campus fencing.
FEMA is also awarding $685,200 through FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant Program for 2028 state hazard mitigation planning.
These projects are the latest examples of billions of dollars in disaster recovery provided by FEMA to support state and local communities as they work to rebuild from recent natural disasters.
