A tragic head-on crash in York County claimed one life on Sunday afternoon, according to reports from the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Horde Road, near its intersection with Turkey Creek Road.
Investigating troopers reported that a northbound Ram pickup truck collided head-on with a southbound Honda Accord. The driver of the Honda suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation and treatment.
Officials confirmed that no other vehicles or passengers were involved in the accident. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash.
