Clover School District to Dedicate Three New Schools

Clover School District (CSD) will host Dedication Ceremonies for its three new schools during the month of September.

The schools being dedicated and their dates are:

  • Roosevelt Middle School–Tuesday, September 8, at 9:30 a.m.
  • Liberty Hill Elementary School–Thursday, September 10, at 9 a.m.
  • Lake Wylie High School–Friday, September 25, at 10 a.m.

District and community leaders will be on hand for all three events. The programs will vary from campus to campus and will reflect the unique culture of each school.

At Roosevelt Middle School, the focus will be the return of the Roosevelt name to the Clover community. Clover’s African American high school prior to desegregation was known as Roosevelt High School. That school’s colors and mascot have been incorporated into the identity of the new middle school. Members of the Roosevelt Alumni Association are expected to take part in the ceremony and to visit a Tribute Wall to the former school that has been installed at the new middle school. Roosevelt Middle School is located at 1555 Highway 55 East in Clover.

At Liberty Hill Elementary, student leadership will be highlighted. Students will perform the school song, present the colors, lead the Pledge of Allegiance and share remarks about what it means to be a Liberty Hill Patriot. Liberty Hill is constructed on a Revolutionary War battle site and has a rich history to inform the Patriot identity. Liberty Hill Elementary is located at 1428 Cannonball Run in York.

At Lake Wylie High School, Fine Arts groups will be featured heavily in the ceremony, with both the band and Choraliers contributing to the program. Members of the Student Ambassadors program will serve as tour guides, while Student Council leaders are expected to deliver remarks about the experience of opening a new high school. Lake Wylie High School is located at 1464 Cannonball Run in York.
