Rock Hill, SC: Winthrop University baseball head coach Mike McGuire has announced the promotions of Mike Napolitano to Recruiting Coordinator alongside being the Hitting Coach and Catching Instructor and Mike Bello to a Full-Time role as an assistant coach.
Napolitano has been with the Eagles since 2024, when McGuire was hired as head coach now garnering the title of Recruiting Coordinator.
“Mike is a great fit for our program for several reasons,” McGuire said. “He is considered one of the top hitting coaches and recruiters in the Northeast. That’s a part of the country that our program has got to recruit. His contacts up there will be invaluable for us. Offensively, he and I share a lot of similarities and thoughts on swing mechanics and offensive philosophy and approach. Our hitters will benefit greatly from his tutelage.”
Bello joined the Eagles last season as the Director of Player Development, where he worked as Head Outfield Coach, Assistant Hitting Coach and First Base Coach, helped prepare scouting reports and supported the program’s recruiting efforts.
“Mike played collegiately in two very good programs in Auburn and Troy,” said McGuire. “He has been around high-level baseball and played for and learned a great deal as a player from great coaching staffs. He also comes from a baseball family. His exposure to the coaching world is far more advanced than the average player that just ended their playing career. He has a bright future in the industry and I’m very excited to add him to our coaching staff.”
The two coaches helped the Eagles and McGuire to back-to-back 30+ wins seasons for the first time in nearly 20 years, earning the No. 2 seed in the Big South Conference Tournament this past season.
