An 18 year old Rock Hill woman was shot and killed early Saturday morning at a home on Horseman Drive, and a 22 year old woman is now in custody on a murder charge, authorities said.
The York County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Aliyah White of Rock Hill, born Sept. 20, 2007. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Jamorria McClinton, 22, was arrested later Saturday and charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.
What investigators found
Rock Hill police were called to the Horseman Drive residence at roughly 3:50 a.m. Officers found White on the back patio with a gunshot wound that proved fatal. The weapon used in the shooting was recovered at the scene, police said.
Investigators identified McClinton as a suspect during the hours that followed and took her into custody at a relative’s home.
Autopsy results pending
York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said in a release issued Saturday that an autopsy and toxicology testing will be completed this coming week, with results still pending. The Rock Hill Police Department and the coroner’s office are running a joint investigation.
