Scheduled Destruction of Special Education Records

York, SC – In accordance with state and federal regulations, York School District One will destroy special education records for students who were born prior to 2005.

Former students, or their parents/guardians, may request copies of these records prior to destruction. Special education records may be needed for future purposes, including Social Security benefits, postsecondary education accommodations, or other personal matters.

Requests for records must be made on or before July 23, 2026. After this date, the records will be permanently destroyed.
This destruction process applies exclusively to special education records. This action does not affect permanent general school records.
