Fort Mill High School sprinter and jumper Mia Williams has earned the South Carolina Coaches Association of Women’s Sports Class AAAAA Track and Field Player of the Year award, capping a dominant 2026 state championship performance in which she claimed two gold medals.
Williams received notice of the honor in a letter from the SCCAWS dated May 27, 2026. The association will recognize Williams at a Player of the Year Banquet on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at The Cotton Press Wedding and Event Venue.
Record Performance At States
Williams delivered one of the most complete individual performances of the SCHSL 5A Division 2 State Championships on May 16, 2026, competing in four events and finishing on the podium in all of them.
She won the 100 meter dash in 11.75 seconds, taking first place in the finals. She also captured the triple jump title with a mark of 38 feet, 8.5 inches (11.8 meters). In the long jump, Williams finished second with a leap of 18 feet, 0.75 inches (5.51 meters). She rounded out her day with a fifth place finish in the 200 meter dash, crossing in 24.97 seconds.
Conference Recognition
The SCCAWS Player of the Year award is voted on by coaches across the classification and recognizes the top performer in each sport at the state level. Williams is the top honoree in Class AAAAA, the largest classification in South Carolina high school athletics.
Williams is expected to be honored at the June 10 banquet alongside players of the year from other sports and classifications.
