Lindsay Rene Byrd, 41, of Fort Mill, was arrested earlier this week on several felony charges involving the sexual exploitation of minors. The arrest was announced by South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson.
The arrest followed an investigation led by the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and the York County Sheriff’s Office. The Attorney General’s Office, also a member of the state’s Task Force, provided assistance during the inquiry.
The investigation began after authorities received a CyberTipline report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Investigators allege that Byrd engaged in criminal sexual conduct with a minor and was involved in the production of child sexual abuse material.
Byrd was taken into custody on May 11, 2026. She faces the following charges:
-
One count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
-
Two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor, each a felony offense punishable by up to 20 years in prison.
The Attorney General’s Office is designated to handle the prosecution of this case.
