BachAkademie Charlotte to Perform Baroque Cantatas in Lancaster This Weekend

LANCASTER, S.C. — BachAkademie Charlotte will present a live concert of Baroque music on Sunday, May 11, at the Lancaster Cultural Arts Center, featuring vocal and instrumental works by Johann Sebastian Bach.

The program includes two of Bach’s solo cantatas: Ich habe genug, BWV 82, and Vergnügte Ruh, beliebte Seelenlust, BWV 170. Vocalists Edmund Milly (bass) and Nicholas Garza (countertenor) will perform the cantatas, each known for its introspective themes and expressive arias.

Also featured is a performance of Bach’s Concerto for Violin and Oboe, BWV 1060R. This piece, a reconstruction of an earlier version of a double concerto, will include guest soloists Aisslinn Nosky (violin) and Kristin Olson (oboe).

The concert will take place from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the Lancaster Cultural Arts Center, located at 307 West Gay Street in downtown Lancaster. Tickets are available online for $21 or at the door for $25. Free on-site and street parking is available. Attendees can call 803-287-6826 for ticket assistance.
